''An evil law!''
More than 10,000 Hong Kong protestors joined the anti-extradition law ammendment bill demonstration on the 31st March. They urged the government to drop the amendment that would allow China to extradite people, particularly those who are politically active from Hong Kong. Protestors told us that the law is a blatant violation of the promised autonomy of Hong Kong. If the administration tries to force the bill through the legislature next week, organizers asserted that there would be further protests in the very soon future.
''Connecting younger and older generations''
We saw prominent pro-democracy leaders attended the march, including legislative council member Claudio Mo, barrister Martin Lee, and Jimmy Lai, owner of Apple daily. Younger figures and organizations were also seen at the March, notably Demosisto's Joshua Wong and Agnes Chow. Perhaps the issue brought together the younger and older generations, a mid-aged parent father took his daughter with him to the protest and told us that he expressed his great suspicion in the China's court system and his disappointment in Hong Kong's administrative autonomy.

''Gathering like-minds under hot blazing sun''
It was a hot summer day, yet millions of Hongkongers held hands to fight against the government. In the past, police gave significantly lower statistics than the organizers, but even the most conservative estimate of the June 9th rally is the largest since 2003.
Protesters chanted "Scrap the wicked law!" and "Oppose China extradition!". Alex Chan, a coffee shop owner, said that he would be closing his business to participate in the June 9 march. "Our city is more important than our company," the shop owner said with complete certainty. "The administration will never listen to our concerns if we don't speak up."
''One million is not enough to persuade the government''
Though over a million Hongkongers joined the June 9th protest against extradition law, echoing the concerns of the pro-democratic politicians and citizens, the Hong Kong administration stated that the bill's second reading will continue to take place on June 12th. Concerned groups were extremely discontent abotu the decision by the government and are already in the way of proposing further protests in the coming days to halt the undemocratic lawmaking process.

''Chief Executive: We have to maintain law and order, but also restart communication with the society''
Carrie Lam, the leader of Hong Kong, stated on June 15th that her administration will delay the law ammendment exercise, after the enormous public protests in the city this week devolved into violence.
Reiterating her view that the law is still necessary to prevent Hong Kong from becoming a criminals' haven, Lam told that the administration had to restart the communication with all the sectors in the soceity on the topic of the bill. She insisted that the proposal was intended to, without any political underpinnings, achieve justice as in the instance of a Hong Kong man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend in Taiwan in February 2018.
''Too late to make a change. Citizens and human rights groups furious about police brutality''
Per authorities, 81 people were hurt, 22 of them were law enforcement officers, in the city's largest disturbance in years. Police declared the rally a "riot," claiming they used 150 tear gas canisters, "many rounds" of rubber bullets, and roughly 20 beanbag pellets.
On the other hand, Amnesty International condemned the police of using "excessive force" against mostly peaceful protestors. On Friday, a crowd of primarily concerned moms gathered in the city center, some holding banners that read "don't shoot our kids."
Citizens are sceptible about the Chief Executive's saying of "restarting communication" and regard it as a language game. Protestors are now requesting five demands from the government in order to propitiate the population's anger.

''Irony of the Establishment Day''
July 1st is the Estabalishment Day of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Celebrations were rare but demonstrations were everywhere to be found. A flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the handover took place inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday morning meanwhile thousands joined a mainly calm pro-democracy march. Around midday, a splinter group of protestors made their way to the Legislative Council (LegCo), starting to break into the building.
Later that day, police shot tear gas onto the remaining crowd outside the structure. Earlier in the evening, police issued a warning to demonstrators that they either leave the facility or face "appropriate action. Most of the protesters had left the building by that point, however a handful remained in the central chamber. Despite most parts of the building is damaged, several facilities such as refrigerator were not destructed. A note that read ""We are not thieves, we won’t steal" was left on the refrigerator. Numerous protestors were arrested, and the government promised to strengthen their police force to maintain law and order.
''Storming of the LegCo: A resemblance of the Sunflower Student Movement''
Earlier in the day, dozens of protesters burst through the glass of the Legislative Council (LegCo) building. Hundreds of rally-goers then entered the building, spray-painting slogans on the wall and hanging banners that read "No rioters, only tyranny".
The scene is perhaps not the first time we see in this decade. In 2014, students protested against the passage of the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement (CSSTA) in the legislature by the Kuomintang (KMT) without a clause-by-clause examination. The students once as well broke into their respective legislative and executive buildings, Legislative Yuan and Executive Yuan.
